ACL Surgery Recovery - Week 16 (I CAN RUN... FAST!)

September 28th, 2003

So in terms of my knee, the last few weeks have been good. I can dance at about 75% again, and I can run in straight lines very fast. Today at the track, I actually ran almost top speed, and timed my speed. I managed to run 100m in 13.6 seconds! I don't know how fast I used to do it, but I don't think it was much faster than that... I felt like I was holding back a little bit still though. I could probably do it in a flat 13.

I went to my brother's wedding a couple weeks ago, and that was also great. There were a lot of little kids there, and I was able to play with them without incident. I ran with them (in straight lines only without cutting). I ran around a bit on grass, and ran more on concrete. It wasn't so bad, b/c kids aren't very fast... just quick, so I could keep up w/ them.

Also, I was taking photos the other day, and wanted to get a low angle shot. I kneeled down to get the proper angle, and it didn't really bother me that much. There isn't that much pain on the kneecap anymore, this is very good news.

Speaking of dancing, I took a salsa class, and that was not hard on the knee at all. I think i can salsa at full speed, as long as I dont' have to pick up and throw someone... hehe. Also, for breakdancing, I think I am 75% percent. I still can't do everything, but i'm getting there, one day at a time.

So far, everything has been positive... good, very good.
