ACL Surgery Recovery - Week 8

July 19th, 2003

Better news. Talked to my friends who had the surgery done before, and they said that they experienced similar setbacks during their recovery and that it was normal. They said that they don't think that I did anything serious enough to reverse the surgery, so that is good news indeed. I am going back to physical therapy for the first time in a couple weeks this Wednesday, so that should be a welcome relief just to get a massage and some helpful advice.

So my knee is still popping a little bit, but it is nowhere as bad as it was last week. I worked out today on the eliptical machine, but didn't do any strength training on the leg. It might be better that I don't put any stress on the knee because I think the main reason I can't walk properly is because of range of motion issues. I'm going to take it easy on the strength training for a week. I think it's already paying off.

Other than that the leg is feeling really good, I still favor my right leg a little bit. I'm excited... almost 2 months since surgery already. The left leg is gaining mass, as I have been using it a lot more and have done the strength training (which I am going to give a break for a while). 4 months to go until a full recovery. I'll be in NYC when that day comes and doing a lot of walking so I need to get well before then.
