ACL Surgery Recovery - Day 17 (physical therapy)

June 14th, 2003 - Went back into PT yesterday... they said I was doing really good. They were suprised that I could ride a bike already. I did the stationary bike for 10 minutes yesterday with no problem at all. They also gave me a couple of new stretches to do. One was the heel slide on the bed where I try to see how much flexion I can get, and the other was the quad stretch with the rubber band, but in the pool. The physical therapist answered a lot of questions for me again and was quite reassuring. I am really happy with my progress thus far and am glad that I did PT.

Something big happened 2 days ago... I finally got my metal leg brace. This thing is great... it allows me to walk like a normal person and it still provides almost as much support as the knee imobilizer. I actually wore it out yesterday when I was hanging out with friends for a couple of hours and didn't have any really noticable pains associated with it. It's pretty big and black, and covers about 50 percent of my leg. Supposedly when my leg is better, I will be able to play sports wearing the brace. I have already used the stationary bicycle with the brace on and it seems that the brace is really mobile. My brace is a Donjoy. The doctor showed me dozens of wild colors I could choose for the brace, but I really wanted to stick to black - it's not something I want to show off too much.
