I've posted before about the Strobist site and I just want to reiterate what an awesome site it is. From time to time, there will be photographic challenges posted to the site and one of the first lessons was about using portable flashes to light a room (here). About 6 months ago I tried that assignment and got pretty decent results.

I've been getting a lot of positive feedback on this photo on my Flickr page so I thought I would share it on this site as well. This photo was taken with just 2 flashes and I really didn't know what I was doing at the time :) This photo is available as a stock image here.

Since then, I have learned a thing or two and I remodeled a bit, so I decided to take another, new and improved photo. I've gotten a few more lights, and I've learned how to make the room look a lot brighter and softer. Oh yea, if you come visit me, m place is never this clean - I just made it that way for the photos.

Just for extra credit too, I decided to photograph my crazy Spanish tile inspired kitchen. I didn't get this one the way I want it yet, but maybe I can revisit this in a few month's time as well.

These last couple of photos were taken using 3 sepereate flash units. If you look at the light and the shadows closely, you can find out where they are.
