More HDR Photos

Some of you may have read my last entry on how to make your own HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos. These are images made by combining 3 different photos of different exposures into one. HDR takes the high and the low range values from the 3 photos so that there is more dynamic range and clarity in the combined photo. In other words, you'll be able to see more detail because you are combining the information from 3 seperate photos. Resulting images look incredibly vivid and contrasty because the human eye doesn't normaly see that high amount of detail in everyday life.

Today I took 4 more HDR images in the parking lot of my building. The first 3 small images are the source images of the same scene taken at different exposures, and the large photo is the merged photo created using Photomatix. I then turned up the color saturation a bit to give the photos even more of a kick. Remember that you will need a tripod to pull this off to ensure that the 3 source images are of the exact same scene.

Crane of the condo going up across the street and the "Jukebox" building on 15th street. Taken from my living room window.

Taken from the top story of my parking deck. The building in the foreground is my building, and the building in the back is the condo across the street.

Also taken from the top story of the parking deck. This is a photo of Guadalupe and MLK, and the beginning of "The Drag." Notice that since the cars were moving in this photo and we combined 3 seperate photos, we get some "ghost" cars in the photo. The tall building on the right is Dobie dormitory - where Michael Dell lived and where he started his first computer company that would later become Dell.

Another photo of the view of my building from the parking deck.
